Rookie second-rounder (33rd overall, 2026) who was a preseason riser in San Francisco, but I could not find current in-season coverage of his role, so treat any confident claim about his weekly usage — mine included — with suspicion.

Listed as active on the 49ers roster at WR (No. 15). The only substantive material I surfaced was preseason: three catches and visible chemistry with Brock Purdy in the exhibition win over the Chargers, with the narrative around him shifting from skeptical to optimistic inside the building. I found no current snap-share, target-share or route-participation numbers, and no reporting on how he stacks up against San Francisco's other receivers or how much of the passing game still routes through George Kittle and the veteran pass-catchers. Anyone starting or dropping him should check the most recent 49ers snap counts and the official injury report directly before deciding.
Second-round draft capital, a defined skill-set profile (6-2, 207) and early, specific praise from Purdy about trust and contested catches — the classic setup for a rookie whose role grows as the season goes on in a scheme that has historically made receivers productive quickly.
Preseason chemistry is the weakest evidence there is. He is a rookie in a crowded, Kittle-and-run-game-centric offense, and until there is confirmed snap and target volume he is a name, not a role. Rookie 49ers receivers have often been rotational and matchup-dependent early.

Cannot be characterised from what I found — I did not locate enough in-season analysis to say where the community splits. The question that would matter is whether he is now a full-time perimeter starter or still a rotational piece behind the veterans, and that is unresolved in the coverage available to me.
