Brice Sensabaugh
Sensabaugh is a bench scorer on a Jazz roster that now has more scoring options, so his role is smaller than last season's. This is based on reporting through about October 28.
Role
He comes off the bench. ESPN's game log shows 9 to 18 minutes in his first five games: 14, 16, 17, 9 and 18, in that order. RotoWire/CBS says he is the backup shooting guard behind rookie Darryn Peterson. It also says he is in a reserve role behind Ace Bailey and Lauri Markkanen. SI's preseason bench group (checked about Oct 20) lists Isaiah Collier, Sensabaugh, Bailey, Kyle Filipowski and Jaxson Hayes. SI names Okogie and Green as wings competing for his minutes. The wire note about his hip dates from the preseason game against the Nuggets, and I found nothing newer on it. His 2025-26 line is 6 GP and 558 MIN in our data, which does not match SI's 23.5 minutes per game, so I'm not using that figure.
He is a proven bench scorer. SI says he had a career season last year, with career highs in minutes and points. Coach Will Hardy has said he wants Sensabaugh to shoot catch-and-shoot looks. Yahoo calls him a microwave scorer who can get hot and keep getting fed. He had 16 points on 4-of-5 from three in 18 minutes on October 28, with Markkanen and Jackson out. He is in a contract year.
The roster is crowded with scorers. SI says Markkanen, George, Peterson, Bailey and Jackson will all sit ahead of him in scoring roles. It also says Okogie and Green could get minutes over him for defense. SI notes his minutes and shots will shrink from the 18.0 FGA per game he averaged over a late-season stretch when injuries opened up playing time. Early-season minutes of 9 to 18 fit that.
Where analysts split
The split is whether he holds a steady sixth or seventh man role or loses minutes to defensive wings. SI's rotation piece argues for fewer minutes for him. SI's bench projection and Yahoo treat him as a core second-unit scorer. The minutes will also vary depending on who is hurt, since his largest workload last season came when starters were out.
