Adam Fantilli
Fantilli is a top-line center with first-unit power-play time on Columbus's current projections, but our wire note says "out" and I found no reporting that explains it, so his availability is the open question.
Role
Daily Faceoff's line page (fetched 2 November, last updated 31 October) projects Nichushkin-Fantilli-Johnson as the first line. It has Fantilli on the first power-play unit with Knies, Johnson, Coyle and Werenski. It does not list him on either penalty-kill unit. Earlier lines differed: Knies-Fantilli-Johnson on 18 October (5v5 Hockey), and Nichushkin-Johnson-Fantilli as the second forward line on 24 October (Dobber's Frozen Pool, which listed Knies' line first). The Hockey Reference game log shows 24:54 of ice time on 31 October at Dallas, 22:17 at Carolina and 20:45 at Philadelphia. Dobber's depth chart (stats through 24 October) showed 20:28 average ice time and 3:40 of power-play time over 9 games. Coyle and Monahan are the other centers in the group. I found no source that says who would take his minutes if he is out.
He plays a lot, with 24:54 on 31 October and 22:17 on 29 October, and he sits on the first power-play unit next to Knies and Johnson. He also shoots plenty, with 27 shots in 9 games through 24 October. He signed a six-year extension through 2031-32 (NHL.com), so the club has committed to him as a core center. He is 22.
Our wire note says out, and I could not find a practice report, coach update or injury item to explain it, so his status is unconfirmed. His linemates keep changing: Knies, Marchenko, Sillinger and Nichushkin have each been reported alongside him at some point. Last season he played only 12 games, scoring 4 goals and 6 points with 1 power-play point. He also has no listed penalty-kill role, so his ice time depends on staying on the first line and first power-play unit.
Where analysts split
I did not find analysts arguing over him. The open question is availability: our wire note says out, yet the Daily Faceoff page still lists him on line 1 and power-play unit 1, and he played 24:54 on 31 October. I could not reconcile these. The smaller, factual question is whether his top-line wingers will be Nichushkin or Knies, because the sources conflict.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
