Jack Eichel
Eichel is Vegas's top-line center and the team scoring leader, and the open question is whether his hot start holds, not whether his role is safe.
Role
Inside the Rink's projected lines for the Nov. 2 game at Boston, and its Oct. 10, Oct. 24 and Oct. 30 previews, all have him centering Ivan Barbashev and Mark Stone on line 1. A beat-writer line-rush post from Oct. 30 against New Jersey matches that. It also says Trevor Connelly finished that game on his line. Mitch Marner has been on line 2 with William Karlsson in the Oct. 30 and Nov. 2 projections, though preseason projections had Marner with Eichel. Inside the Rink's Oct. 30 preview has Eichel on power-play unit 1 with Stone, Tomas Hertl, Connelly and Marner. Its Oct. 24 preview had Shea Theodore on that unit instead of Marner. It lists him on the second penalty-kill unit. Inside the Rink noted he led both rosters in ice time with 26:38 in one game, per its Oct. 10 preview. NHL.com's Nov. 2 morning skate report has him leading Vegas with 20 points (7 goals, 13 assists). I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's live line page, so the lines above come from the secondary sources I've cited.
Optimists point to a changed shot profile. Vegas Hockey Knight (about Oct. 25) says he is shooting more freely, is on pace for a career-high 41 goals, and is expected to become the franchise's first 100-point player. Local coverage notes he led the league in points early, with 12 points in five games. He sits on the top line and the first power-play unit, plays heavy minutes, and Las Vegas Sun and Review-Journal coverage describes another hot start.
Skeptics point to the shooting percentage: Vegas Hockey Knight cites 18.8% this season against 10.4% last season, which suggests his goal pace could cool. The same article says he still had no power-play goal this season as of its writing and only one last season. The Oct. 30 line data shows his line got badly outshot at even strength in that game. Vegas's first power-play unit has also changed from game to game.
Where analysts split
The disagreement is whether the goal-scoring surge holds. Vegas Hockey Knight reads it as a lasting change in shot habits, and the 18.8% shooting percentage invites regression. A smaller question is whether Marner returns to Eichel's line and the first power-play unit. Marner is currently on line 2 in the Nov. 2 projection.
