Alex DeBrincat

Consensus #21 · RW3 · tier 3Week 5: 4 gamesUpdated Nov 2

DeBrincat is a top-line winger on the first power-play unit for Detroit, and the current projections show that role as stable.

Role

Projected lines for Detroit's November 2 game at Florida put him on line 1 with Emmitt Finnie at center and Viktor Arvidsson on the other wing (Inside the Rink and The Morning Puck, checked November 2). Both list him on the first power-play unit with Arvidsson, Finnie, Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider. The second unit is Rasmussen, Danielson, Copp, Brandsegg-Nygard and Faulk. A Yahoo preview from about 17 days ago had him on the left side with Finnie and Brandsegg-Nygard, so his linemates have changed during the season. Dylan Larkin is not in the November 2 projected lines. I did not find why, and I did not find his status. A 2026-27 frozenpool game page I read showed Larkin on a power-play grouping with DeBrincat in the October 17 game. I could not fetch Daily Faceoff's page, so I have not read its current combinations. Ice time is not reported in what I found.

The case for

He is on the first power-play unit and the top forward line on a team that is 6-5-3 (Inside the Rink, November 2). Yahoo's preview, about 17 days old, said he was staying hot. Last season he had 15 points, 5 of them on the power play, and 51 shots in 14 games. That is a lot of shot volume in a short sample, and it came from a shooter who gets power-play time.

The case against

His linemates keep changing: Brandsegg-Nygard, then Arvidsson, with Larkin's availability unresolved. A top-line spot is not guaranteed, and his center could change again if Larkin returns. Last season's 14 games are a small sample. I found no reporting on his current-season production or ice time, so I cannot say whether his output matches his usage.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement on his role: every projection I found has him on line 1 and power-play unit 1. The open question is who centers him and who plays the other wing once Larkin's status is settled. That is not confirmed in anything I read.

Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
