Mikko Rantanen
Rantanen is a top-six right wing who also plays on both power-play units, and he has stayed in that role even as Dallas keeps reshuffling the players around him.
Role
Daily Faceoff's line page, fetched 26 October and updated from the 25 October game, has him at right wing on the Kiviranta-Johnston-Rantanen line. It also has him on the first power-play unit with Johnston, Hintz, Heiskanen and Robertson, and on the second unit with Hryckowian, Seguin, Benn and Harley. The page shows no ice-time figures. Reports from the past week disagree on his line: a 25 October warmup report (via Game Day Lines) and the Inside The Rink previews for 20 and 25 October put him with Johnston, while ESPN's page (about 5 days old) lists Steel-Johnston-Rantanen as the second line. Other recent reports put him with Hintz and Robertson. The Morning Puck's game box shows him at 18:52 in one recent game, and the sources I read give no season average. The competition for his spot is mostly about who plays left wing next to Johnston (Kiviranta, Steel or Hryckowian), plus Robertson and Hintz as occasional linemates.
He sits on PP1 and also appears on PP2, so he has an unusually large power-play role. The Inside The Rink preview for 25 October, citing Box Score Junkie, has him at 62.8% Corsi-for and 8.1 high-danger expected goals, with five goals on 3.3 expected. Dobber's Frozen Tools shows him used with Hintz and Robertson in recent games, which suggests the coaches will give him top-line minutes when they want more offense.
His linemates are unsettled, and the left wing next to him has been Kiviranta, Steel or Hryckowian depending on the report. That is a weaker pairing than a Robertson-Hintz line. Inside The Rink's 25 October preview noted only one shot in his previous game, though he also picked up two assists. His 20 October and 25 October lines were reported as second-line spots behind Robertson and Hintz, so his even-strength role is not fixed. His last-season line from our data, 14 points in 11 games, comes from a small sample.
Where analysts split
Which line he plays on, and who his wingers are. Sources split between a Johnston-centered line with a depth left wing, and a top-line spot with Hintz and Robertson. His power-play role is not in dispute across the sources I read.
