Alex Steeves
Alex Steeves is a Providence (AHL) call-up candidate for now, not an NHL regular. He is not in Boston's current lineup, and the available coverage says he would only play if forward injuries open a spot.
Role
No NHL line, power-play unit or ice-time role that I could confirm. The Daily Faceoff Bruins page, fetched today and last updated 25 October, shows the 24 October game's lines without him. Those lines are Peterka-Zacha-Pastrnak, Khusnutdinov-Minten-Geekie, Mittelstadt-E. Lindholm-Hagens and Jeannot-Poitras-Kastelic. Its power-play units don't include him either. Eliteprospects lists him with Providence for 2026-27. The Bruins waived him on 26 September, and PuckPedia's transaction log marks that as cleared. I did not find an official transaction page that dates his assignment to Providence. Last season he played a bottom-six role. He averaged 10:23 per game according to PuckPedia, which doesn't match the 513 total minutes in our data, so I'm not relying on that figure. RotoWire (3 April) said Lukas Reichel took his bottom-six spot after the Olympic break. For this season, the competition for fourth-line work is Jeannot, Poitras and Kastelic. Kuraly also appeared on the fourth line in practice lines posted 19 October.
He scored 9 goals in 43 games last season and added 144 hits, so he has some scoring touch and physical production for a depth forward. He also has a long AHL scoring record, which Marker Zone put at 224 points in 256 games. Boston signed him to a two-year extension in January, so the club has shown some commitment to him. CBS/RotoWire (26 September) said he will likely get some NHL time if the forward group hits injury trouble.
He cleared waivers and is playing in the minors while the Bruins' 12 forwards are set. Late last season his playing time dropped sharply. RotoWire (3 April) said he was out of the lineup for all but three of 19 games after the Olympic break. His production was front-loaded: seven goals in his first 17 games, then a slowdown. Nothing I found says he is next in line for a recall, and no current report gives him a role if he does come up.
