Beckett Sennecke

Consensus #91 · RW18 · tier 8Week 5: 4 gamesUpdated Nov 2

Sennecke is a second-line right wing on Anaheim's top power-play unit, and he is scoring on a very high shooting percentage that has not been tested over a full season.

Role

Current reporting has him on the second line at right wing, with Cutter Gauthier and center Mikael Granlund. That comes from Inside the Rink's projection for the Nov. 1 game vs. Ottawa, Heavy citing Daily Faceoff, and Ducks practice lines posted Oct. 31. The same Nov. 1 projection and an Oct. 31 tweet of power-play units have him on PP1 with Carlsson, Granlund, LaCombe and Gauthier. A Silver Seven Sens game hub says the Ducks lean heavily on that five-man unit. An Oct. 31 tweet also noted he was getting some penalty-kill time. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's own page, so this is secondhand. I have no ice-time figures for this season. The wing spots around him have moved: practice lines on Oct. 26 and Oct. 28 had Jeff Malott on his left wing, and a Frozen Pool Oct. 29 line chart had Malott with him as well. ESPN's line page, about 12 days old, shows the Gauthier line. Nothing I found says who would compete for his right-wing spot.

The case for

He has eight goals this season, per Heavy on Nov. 1, and he sits on PP1 for a team that leans on that five-man unit. A Frozen Pool chart from Oct. 29 showed a unit with Granlund, Gauthier and Carlsson that outscored Buffalo 3-0, and he is trusted enough to get penalty-kill looks. Last season, per our data, he scored 8 goals and 12 points with 6 power-play points in 14 games, so the power-play production is not new.

The case against

Heavy puts his shooting percentage at 25.8% this season, which is very unlikely to hold. The Ducks are 5-7-1 and, per Silver Seven Sens, are giving up a lot of goals while overperforming their shot totals on offense. His linemates have rotated, and the Oct. 29 Buffalo game showed a Granlund-Malott-Sennecke trio getting outshot. If the goals slow, little else in his stat profile would carry him. Our data shows only 17 hits and 6 blocks last season, so his value rests on scoring.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement on his role: every source I read has him second-line right wing and on PP1. I found no analyst piece arguing about him in the coverage I read. The open question is whether his scoring holds as the shooting percentage comes down, and I did not find coverage that takes a side.

Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
