Carter Verhaeghe
Verhaeghe is a second-line left wing on the first power-play unit for Florida, and his hot start (a hat trick, as FHN's 14-day-old piece reports) is the main thing behind his value. The day-to-day note is the one open item, and I found nothing newer on it.
Role
Inside the Rink's Nov. 2 game preview for Detroit at Florida lists line 2 as Verhaeghe, Sam Reinhart and Sandis Vilmanis, and puts him on the first power-play unit with Brady Tkachuk, Reinhart, Seth Jones and Matthew Tkachuk. Florida Hockey Now's lines page (seen in search about 7 days ago) has the same second line. It logs an Oct. 24 change that moved Vilmanis into the second-line right wing spot. ESPN's page, about 9 days old in search, also shows him on PP1. The top line is the two Tkachuks with Sam Bennett. Eetu Luostarinen, Anton Lundell and Lars Eller run the third line and PP2 on those pages. Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand are listed on injured reserve per ESPN, so the top-six competition now is Vilmanis and the Bennett line. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff, and I found no ice-time figure for this season that I trust.
He sits on PP1 and plays alongside Reinhart. Florida Hockey Now's beat writer (published about 14 days ago) describes him on a scoring heater with a hat trick in Florida's 8-3 win over Seattle. The piece notes that his scoring tends to improve as seasons go on. With Barkov and Marchand out, he is one of the team's main scoring wingers, and his quick release is a clear strength.
He has moved between lines throughout his time in Florida, so the second-line spot is not fixed. One early-season game log, from Oct. 1 per Puckfeed, had him on the top line, and the other lineup sources show him on line 2. The day-to-day wire note is unresolved in what I found. Barkov and Marchand are on injured reserve, but I found no return dates for either. His line and power-play role could change when they return.
Where analysts split
No analyst debate turned up in my searches. The open question is how long he holds PP1 and a second-line spot once injured forwards return, and no source I found addresses it. I found no source that has him moving down.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
