Drake Batherson
Batherson is a top-six right wing on Ottawa's first power-play unit, but his even-strength line has changed from report to report, so his linemates are not settled.
Role
I could not read Daily Faceoff's live line page. My fetch of it failed, so I am not reporting what it says today. Inside the Rink's 1 November preview of Ottawa at Anaheim, which is a game preview and not a live page, projected Batherson on line 2 with Philip Tomasino and Shane Pinto. It put him on the first power-play unit with Stephen Halliday, Dylan Cozens, Tim Stutzle and Jake Sanderson. The Morning Puck's line page, indexed 11 days ago, showed him on a line with Cozens and Andre Burakovsky, and it listed him on the power play with Stutzle. The 5V5 Hockey page dated 12 October had him on the top line with Burakovsky and Stutzle. SensChirp's page, updated 28 October, had him with Warren Foegele and Cozens on the second line and on the first power-play unit. Those pages differ on his linemates, but all four show him on the first power-play unit or the power play. Morning Puck's page showed 18:57 of ice time in one game (likely a single game). I found no beat-writer or Athletic reporting on his role.
He is on the first power-play unit in every source I read, and he has been placed alongside Stutzle or Cozens, who are among Ottawa's top offensive players. Last season he scored 9 goals and 9 assists in 16 GP, with 37 shots. Those figures are from our data. They suggest his scoring rate was strong in the games he played.
His even-strength spot is unstable. Sources placed him on line 1, line 2 or line 3 depending on the date, and his linemates changed each time. Last season he played only 16 GP, so availability is a concern. Our data holds no injury information, and I found no reporting that explains the 16 GP. Last season's 3 power-play points also came from limited games, which is a small sample.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether he plays with Stutzle on the top line or on a second line with Pinto. Sources from 12 October to 1 November disagree. All of them keep him on the power play, so the dispute is about his even-strength linemates and not his power-play role. I found no analyst commentary arguing either side. This is a difference between line pages, not a debate among analysts.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
