Dylan Cozens
Dylan Cozens has moved from center to Tim Stützle's right wing on Ottawa's top line, with a first power-play unit role, as of the November 1 game preview. He is a top-six forward with the best linemate on the roster, but how long the move lasts is unconfirmed.
Role
NHL.com's November 1 projected lineup for Senators at Ducks has Cozens at right wing on line 1 with Fabian Zetterlund and Stützle. Inside The Rink's November 1 preview has the same line and puts Cozens on the first power-play unit with Batherson, Halliday, Stützle and Sanderson. Dobber's Frozen Tools for the November 1 game also shows him on the first power-play unit. SenShot's write-up of the 5-1 win in San Jose says Travis Green moved Cozens to Stützle's wing for that game. Before that, Cozens was centering the second line between Foegele and Batherson, per an October 21 beat-writer lines post and SenChirp (updated October 28). A fantasysp page indexed three days ago showed him on line 3 and the second power-play unit. Competition for the work comes from Pinto, who is projected to center line 2 with Tomasino and Batherson, and from Batherson and Giroux for power-play spots. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's own page, and I have no ice-time figures for this season.
Cozens plays with Stützle and Zetterlund and is on the first power-play unit. SenShot reports that the line was the team's most consistent combination in the San Jose win, where Cozens and Stützle combined for two goals, two assists, 12 shots and four hits. His size and physical game fit with Stützle's puck-carrying.
The placement is new and has been unstable. Cozens was on line 3 in an October 12 projection, then on line 2 at center in late October, and only on the top line as of the November 1 preview. Green has a record of rearranging lines. SenShot says Green most likely won't shuffle the line after the San Jose win, which is a prediction and not a confirmed plan. A line change or the return of an injured winger could send him back to the middle of the lineup.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether Cozens stays on Stützle's wing on the top line or goes back to center on line 2 or 3. The sources I found disagree only because they were published at different times. SenShot and the November 1 lineups put him on the top line, while the October 28 SenChirp and the October 21 lines have him centering a lower line. I found no analyst commentary arguing either side.
