Dylan Strome
Dylan Strome is Washington's second-line center and a first-unit power-play regular, and the current lineup reporting I found is consistent on both points.
Role
Beat-writer lines posted by NHL Game Day Lines on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 have Strome centering Alex Tuch and Jordan Kyrou on the second line. Inside the Rink's Nov. 1 preview and The Morning Puck's expected lines for Nov. 1 show the same trio. Pierre-Luc Dubois centers the top line with Aliaksei Protas and Tom Wilson, and Strome is behind him. Inside the Rink's Nov. 1 projection has the first power-play unit as Wilson, Strome, Kyrou, Alex Ovechkin and Jakob Chychrun, with Dubois on the second unit. Frozen Pool's last-game table from Oct. 24 shows Strome and Kyrou on the first power-play unit, with Tuch away from Strome's unit. That table also shows Strome, Kyrou and Tuch playing 11:50 together at even strength, but I found no season ice-time average for him. Ovechkin is projected on the third line with Ilya Protas and Anthony Beauvillier. I did not read the Daily Faceoff line page itself, so none of this is from that page.
He holds a power-play spot and plays with Tuch and Kyrou, two of Washington's offseason additions. Inside the Rink cites Box Score Junkie's 2026-27 numbers: 57.7% Corsi-for across 206 minutes, and 68.9 shot attempts for per 60, the best of any Capitals regular. Washington is 8-4-0 as of Nov. 1, and his line is intact.
Dubois is ahead of him on the depth chart at center, and the second power-play unit is a plausible landing spot if the coaches shuffle again. Lines have changed often. An Oct. 20 snapshot at 5V5 Hockey had Strome centering Tuch and Kyrou on the top line, while later reports put Dubois there. Washington's lines have also moved around in other recent reports, so the second-line role is not guaranteed. Last season's 13 games played mean the sample is small, and I have not found coverage explaining it.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement. The sources I found are lineup reports, not analysis, and none argued about Strome's role. The only open question is whether the lines stay as they are, since an Oct. 20 snapshot showed a different alignment.
