Jackson Blake
Jackson Blake is a second-line right wing on a Carolina team that won the Stanley Cup in June, and several line-tracking sites also have him on the first power-play unit.
Role
Several line-tracking sites list him at right wing on line 2 with Logan Stankoven at center and Nikolaj Ehlers on the left (ESPN, Inside the Rink's 24 October preview, The Morning Puck, 5v5 Hockey as of 20 October). The Inside the Rink preview and 5v5 Hockey put him on the first power-play unit with Aho, Svechnikov, Ehlers and Gostisbehere. Dobber's Frozen Pool last-game page, which I read in search, showed Ehlers-Stankoven-Blake for 12:25 of even-strength time against Edmonton on 22 October. Competition for his spot would come from Seth Jarvis, who is listed on line 3 in these sources. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's live page, and the figures above come from search results.
FantasySP's recent note says he has been strong on the second line with Stankoven and Ehlers, with eight points in seven games and a league-leading number of high-danger chances. It also says he is locked onto the top power-play unit. He was part of the Hall-Stankoven-Blake line that the Washington Post credited as a big reason for the Cup run. Several lineup trackers agree he is on that power-play unit.
The second line has changed. The earlier Hall-Stankoven-Blake trio is gone from the recent lineup pages, and Ehlers now plays the left side. He is a second-line winger with a top-unit power-play role, and that role depends on the coach keeping him there. I found no analyst or beat-writer piece arguing he is at risk of losing it. His 13 games last season are a small sample, and 11 of his 13 points were assists. Last season's line also shows only 3 hits and 3 blocks over 13 games, so his value comes from points and shots. The current-season production figures I found came from an aggregator snippet, so I am not quoting them.
