Jake Guentzel
Guentzel is skating on Tampa Bay's top line and first power-play unit in the current reporting I found, so he is a core scorer for the rest of the season. His role looks stable, though the reporting on it is thin.
Role
Two game-preview pages from 31 October (Inside the Rink and SI's Predators site) list him on line 1 with Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov. Inside the Rink has him on the first power-play unit with Point, Kucherov, Brandon Hagel and Charle-Edouard D'Astous. The second unit in that preview is Holmberg, Cirelli, Goncalves, Geekie and Carlson. Frozen Pool's last-game table, dated 8 October, showed him at even strength with Cirelli and Hagel, so he has moved between lines this season. I tried to fetch Daily Faceoff's line page and the fetch failed, so I am not reporting what it says today. I found no ice-time figures for this season. Last season's 270 TOI is from our data and covers only 13 games.
He is on a line with Point and Kucherov, and on the first power-play unit, for a team that was 8-3-1 going into 31 October. SI's preview calls Kucherov the engine of that line. Guentzel's role at even strength and on the man advantage is the kind that tends to produce goals and points. Last season's 13 games gave 8 goals, 13 points and 4 power-play points, on 39 shots.
The line has not been fixed all season. The 8 October game table had him with Cirelli and Hagel, and practice tweets from earlier show Kucherov and Guentzel being flipped. SI's preview says Kucherov's future in Tampa is uncertain, with a report that he is openly headed for the exit, and I have not confirmed the details. If Kucherov left or the lines were reshuffled, Guentzel's linemates would change. He is 32, and last season's 13-game sample is too small to project from.
