Sam Reinhart
Reinhart is Florida's second-line center and first power-play unit forward while Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand are on injured reserve, and his usage should stay solid unless one of them returns.
Role
Daily Faceoff's Panthers page (fetched 26 Oct, last game 25 Oct) has him at center on the second line between Carter Verhaeghe and Sandis Vilmanis, behind the Sam Bennett line with Brady and Matthew Tkachuk. The same page puts him on the first power-play unit with Brady Tkachuk, Verhaeghe, Seth Jones and Matthew Tkachuk. ESPN's line page (about 4 days old) also lists him on the penalty kill's second unit with Lars Eller, but Daily Faceoff's PK units do not include him. I found no ice-time figures. Barkov is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, and one Inside the Rink preview lists a return date of Nov. 27. I did not verify that date against an official source, so treat it as unconfirmed. The Miami Herald reported that coach Paul Maurice moved Reinhart to center at Reinhart's own request.
He is on the top power-play unit and has a center role with Verhaeghe, who had a natural hat trick this month. Reinhart reportedly asked to play more center to get his game going, and Maurice agreed. Coverage describes a slow start (no points through five games, per Heavy about two weeks ago), so the case is that a center role and top-unit power-play time could bring him back toward his norm. The Panthers are also missing two of their best forwards, which leaves more offense to be generated by those still in the lineup.
The slow start is the issue. Heavy reported no points through his first five games, and I did not find his current totals. His linemates have changed several times this month: Sam Lafferty, Lars Eller and now Vilmanis have all been listed beside him. The Panthers are 5-4-2 and sit sixth in the Atlantic. When Barkov returns, Reinhart likely goes back to the wing or moves down the lineup, and his role could be reshuffled again.
Where analysts split
I found no analyst debate about Reinhart specifically. The open question is how his role changes when Barkov returns: does he stay at center on the second line, or go back to the wing? Coverage has not answered that.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
