T.J. Tynan
Tynan is no longer part of the Colorado organization at all this season: he left as a free agent and signed a one-year AHL contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds on July 2, 2026, so he has no path to NHL games with Colorado in 2026-27.
Role
Per the Springfield Thunderbirds' own announcement (July 2, 2026) and a Five Things to Watch preview from the club, Tynan is expected to be a veteran depth center/playmaker for the AHL Thunderbirds, the St. Louis Blues' AHL affiliate, not the Colorado Avalanche or its Colorado Eagles affiliate. He has no listed NHL contract, no NHL camp invite with Colorado for 2026-27, and no line, power-play unit, or ice-time role with the Avalanche has been reported because he is not in their system.
There is no bull case for him as a Colorado or NHL fantasy piece this season; he is a decorated AHL playmaker (a two-time AHL MVP with a long track record of assist titles) who could still put up strong AHL numbers for Springfield, but that has no bearing on NHL rosters.
He is 34, has never stuck as an NHL regular (30 career NHL games across three organizations), and by his own new club's transaction he is committed to a one-year AHL-only deal with Springfield for 2026-27, meaning any Colorado connection is stale as of this offseason.
Where analysts split
There is no analyst disagreement to report here: every source, from Wikipedia to the Thunderbirds' official site to Elite Prospects' transaction log, agrees he left the Avalanche organization and signed with Springfield on July 2, 2026.
Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
