Trevor Zegras
Zegras is a top-line left winger who still takes some faceoffs and plays a hybrid center role, and he is on the first power-play unit, so he is a top-six, top-unit forward for the Flyers who were struggling early in the season.
Role
Daily Faceoff's Flyers line page (fetched Nov 1, updated 2026-11-01) lists him at left wing on line 1 between Christian Dvorak and Travis Konecny. The same page has him on the first power-play unit with Porter Martone, Denver Barkey, Matvei Michkov and Jamie Drysdale. Konecny, Dvorak, Tyson Foerster, Owen Tippett and Oliver Bonk are on the second unit. The Morning Puck's Oct 28 box score had him at left wing with Dvorak at center and Cole Knuble on the right, and the Inside the Rink preview for Nov 1 had Konecny on the right. Ice time and the penalty-kill role are not confirmed by anything I read. The Flyers' power play was 26th at 16.3% as of Oct 31 per the Northeast Times, which said it has scored through Michkov and Zegras lately. That article shows Zegras with 1 goal and 5 assists on the man advantage.
Daily Faceoff's Oct 2025 reporting said he led the team with 16 points through 13 games and that a source called the Flyers "dead in the water" offensively without him. CBS Sports said on Oct 21 that he had five points in three games after a slow start. He is on the top power-play unit, where the Flyers' power play was scoring in 4 of its last 5 games as of Oct 31. The Broad Street Hockey line stats cited the Zegras-Dvorak-Tippett line at roughly 49% to 51% expected goals share.
The Flyers have lost three straight and have been in a poor stretch since the opening month (Inquirer, Oct 28; CBS, Oct 21). His line has changed repeatedly since opening night, when he centered Tippett and Martone. Broad Street Hockey called the move back to wing an unfortunate necessity of the slow start. Faceoffs have been a documented weakness. The power-play unit has also rotated, with different groups listed by Daily Faceoff, ESPN and 5v5 Hockey.
Where analysts split
The split is whether he is a true first-line center or a left winger who plays a hybrid center role. Broad Street Hockey (July) argued he can be the first-line center, and Daily Faceoff noted last fall that he starts plays on the wing because of faceoff struggles. Current line pages list him at left wing. A second open question is who skates with him: sources show Konecny, Foerster, Tippett and Knuble on the right side at different points.
