Troy Terry

Consensus #157 · RW32 · tier 9Week 5: 4 gamesIRUpdated Oct 26

Terry is a stash-only winger who opened the season on long-term injured reserve after June hip surgery. Reporting points to a return in mid-November at the earliest, and that date is an estimate, not a confirmed one.

Role

Terry has not played this season. RotoWire's estimated return is 11/21/2026, and its note says he should hold a top-six role and the first power-play unit once healthy. That is RotoWire's projection, not a coach's statement. Fox Sports says he will likely take a top-line role. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's live line page. The 5v5hockey page (Oct 24), which says it draws on Daily Faceoff pre-game reporting, shows the Ducks' current top line as Gauthier-Carlsson-Caulfield and the second line as Malott-Granlund-Sennecke. Its PP1 is Sennecke, Carlsson, Granlund, Lacombe and Gauthier. Terry is on none of those lines, so his place on return is open. The Ducks have lost five straight as of the Oct 25 Flyers preview (973espn), and Poehling, Moore and Mintyukov are also hurt. I found no practice report or coach's update on Terry's skating or contact status.

The case for

The surgery on June 9 for hip impingement and a labral tear was reported as successful, and the Ducks gave a 5-6 month recovery window. Fox Sports says he looks on track for a November return. Last season he scored 19 goals and 57 points with 12 power-play points in 61 games. The Ducks have a right-wing opening, since Caulfield is on the top line and Sennecke has been used on the right side. RotoWire says he can play in all situations and with a variety of linemates.

The case against

His date is unconfirmed: the reports say mid-November "at the earliest" and a Sept 19 report said another 2-3 months. One outlet put the window at roughly American Thanksgiving to Christmas. He is coming off a major hip operation, and RotoWire says he will likely fall short of his usual production. He also played through the hip problem last season. The Ducks have been getting by with Sennecke, Granlund, Carlsson and Gauthier on PP1, so he may have to win that spot back.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement on the injury: out until mid-November at the earliest, with no sign of a setback. The open question is where he slots in. RotoWire and Fox expect a top-six or top-line role and PP1, but the current projected lines and PP1 have no obvious opening for him. I found no beat-writer view on how the Ducks plan to reintegrate him.

Injury: IR: assessed avoid

Hip injury, has not played this season

Terry has not played at all in 2026-27 and the coach's own estimate is roughly a week or so away as of this report, with RotoWire pegging a later return date; treat as not fantasy-rosterable production this week.

What would change this: Confirmed practice participation or an official return-to-play date from the team.

Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
