Alex Sarr
Alex Sarr is a starting big man in Washington who is playing about 24 minutes a night through three games, and the sources disagree on whether that rises toward 28 or stays near 25.
Role
He started the opener against Milwaukee and played 24 minutes. ESPN's game log (checked 26 October) shows 25 minutes against Toronto on 23 October and 23 at Chicago on 24 October, so he is averaging 24.0 over three games. Fanrecap says the expected starters are Trae Young, Anthony Davis, AJ Dybantsa and Sarr, with the fifth spot still unsettled. Deandre Ayton is the backup center. Bullets Forever's Chicago recap lists his usage at 16.3% in 23 minutes. Fanrecap says he played just under four minutes as the lone big in the opener and the team scored poorly in them. It also says he and Ayton did not share the floor. The foot issue from the preseason wire note has not come up again in what I found, and he has played all three regular-season games. This is beat-adjacent coverage, not a published minutes tracker.
John Hollinger put him on The Athletic's All-Breakout team for 2026-27 (reported 25 October). FantasySP projects about 28.6 minutes, 15.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. He had three blocks at Chicago, and he has paired with Davis up front. The optimistic read is that a third-year big with this rim protection grows into more minutes as the team settles.
The opener gave him the fewest minutes of the starters, and the team was outscored with him on the floor. Wiz of Awes says that if Ayton keeps outplaying him, his minutes will keep falling. Fanrecap says that if he is mostly tied to Davis, he may be looking at around 25 minutes a night. Davis played 34 minutes in the opener, so there is a cap on how long Sarr can share the court with him. He shot 3-of-10 against the Nets in the preseason and 3-of-9 in the opener. Bullets Forever floated the idea that Justin Champagnie could end up in the closing lineup with Young, Davis, Sarr and Dybantsa.
Where analysts split
Whether Sarr's minutes climb toward 28 or more, as the projection and breakout pieces assume, or stay near 24 to 25 because Davis and Ayton take the center minutes and he struggles as the lone big.

Knee, out one game
Sarr is ruled out for Monday against Orlando after a knee issue picked up against Charlotte, with an expected return listed for 11-04. This looks like a short, day-to-day absence rather than a prolonged one, with Ayton stepping in at center in the meantime.
What would change this: Whether he practices or is upgraded ahead of the 11-04 game, or if the knee issue lingers past that date.
