Miles Bridges
Bridges is a starting forward in his first season with Phoenix, a secondary scorer behind Devin Booker who is still finding his footing after an early-camp ankle injury and a thin frontcourt.
Role
He started at power forward in the preseason opener, per RotoWire. He played 29 minutes in the Oct. 21 opener at Portland (8 points on 3-of-11 shooting), per ESPN and NBC Sports. He scored 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists in Saturday's win over the Warriors, per NBC Sports. SI's rotation piece (published in the offseason, so older) projected a starting five of Booker, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Bridges and Mark Williams. Stadium Rant's Week 1 recap says Williams is unavailable after left shoulder surgery and Oso Ighodaro missed Saturday with an oblique strain. It also says Bridges played center for a stretch of the second quarter. I did not find a published minutes or usage figure beyond the 29 minutes in the opener. The wire note about sitting Wednesday against the Spurs was a preseason rest day for the veterans, and he has since played two regular-season games. I found nothing on back-to-back rest plans.
Bridges' defensive rebounding has ranked in the 87th percentile among wings over the last three seasons, per Burn City Sports. Bright Side of the Sun says he took tough perimeter assignments in Charlotte (88th percentile in matchup difficulty, graded A minus). The Suns want him to help the offense run in transition and on the glass. Fox Sports notes he averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists across 77 starts with Charlotte in 2025-26. The Week 1 frontcourt injuries could mean extra rebounding and big-man minutes for him.
The starting group is crowded with scorers (Booker, Green, Brooks), so touches and shots may be hard to come by. Bright Side of the Sun expects an adjustment period while the starters settle into their roles. NBC Sports noted the opener came after the ankle injury and that his production in Phoenix is unproven. His debut was poor: 3-of-11 shooting in a 41-point loss. One analyst also flags off-court baggage, and SI says the starting group lacks 3-point shooting and playmaking.
Where analysts split
The open question is how his usage fits alongside Booker, Green and Brooks. Bright Side of the Sun expects him to take a chunk of other players' offensive production once the adjustment passes. Burn City Sports and Bridges himself stress decoy, connector and rebounding roles. The other open question is how much time he plays at center while Williams and Ighodaro are out. That is my reading of Stadium Rant, and no analyst has framed it as a debate.
