Tari Eason

Consensus #91 · SG35 · tier 6Week 3: 3 gamesUpdated Oct 26

Eason is Houston's high-energy defensive forward off the bench. Early coverage says his value comes from steals and rebounds, and his scoring is inconsistent.

Role

He came off the bench in the first two games of 2026-27. He was ejected after three minutes in the Oct. 21 opener against Dallas, then played 27 minutes off the bench in a 114-110 win over San Antonio (CBS Sports/RotoWire, about Oct. 24). CBS's note assumes he can flirt with 25 minutes on most nights. Fox Sports says he will likely see most of his minutes off the bench. Last season he averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 25.8 minutes over 60 regular-season games (CBS Sports). He moved back into the starting lineup for playoff Game 3 against the Lakers and played 46 minutes. I did not find a current starting five or a minutes tracker, so who competes with him for minutes this season is not confirmed. He has no injury designation.

The case for

He is a bench forward who defends well and creates steals. He had four steals against San Antonio and 19 points off the bench against Atlanta (NBC Sports, Oct. 24). He just signed a five-year, $81.5 million deal (reported by ESPN's Shams Charania), which shows how Houston values him. When he started or got extended minutes last season he produced, including 13.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals over a six-game stretch as a starter (RotoWire).

The case against

His offense is inconsistent, and he shot 6-for-23 over two playoff games last spring (RotoWire). Injuries have been an issue: CBS notes he has 139 appearances over the last three regular seasons, out of a possible 246 (3 x 82). His season-opening ejection for a Flagrant 2 foul also shows discipline risk. He is a bench player on a team built to contend, so his minutes depend on matchups and foul trouble.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement on the bench role and the defensive value. The open question is whether he gets a steady 25 or more minutes, or whether those minutes swing night to night with matchups, foul trouble and the health of Houston's frontcourt.
