Tyler Herro
Herro is Milwaukee's lead offensive guard this season, but the wire report says he will rest Wednesday against the Bulls, and I found nothing explaining why.
Role
Through three games he has played 31 to 32 minutes each night (32 at Washington, 32 vs Chicago, 31 at Philadelphia, per ESPN's game log). Brew Hoop's Bulls recap lists him as a starter next to Ryan Rollins, who has struggled. Brew Hoop has Kasparas Jakucionis at 22 minutes and Brayden Burries at 8 in that game. RotoWire said Taylor Jenkins staggered Herro's minutes with Rollins so Herro could be the primary creator for stretches. I found no published usage rate. I did not find a rest schedule or a back-to-back policy, and the reason for Wednesday's rest is not in what I read.
He opened with 24 points and 9 assists, then 34 points on 12-of-24 shooting with five threes. Brew Hoop wrote that many Bucks sets are run for him and praised his pace. RotoWire's early read was that he looks primed for a big year as the main man in Milwaukee. CBS also calls him one of the Bucks' go-to offensive options.
The third game was poor: 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting, three three-point attempts and no defensive stats, in a loss. Milwaukee is 0-3 and Rollins and Myles Turner are struggling, so the surrounding cast is shaky. Rest days are a new unknown, since the reason for Wednesday's rest has not been explained. NBC's preseason note called the backcourt crowded, though it said that shouldn't be a major issue for him.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement that he is the Bucks' first option. The only open question I found is how often he will rest or sit, and nothing I read answers it. The sample is only three games.
