Ben Roethlisberger

Consensus #283 · QB37Week 9: on byeUpdated Oct 20

Ben Roethlisberger is retired and is not an NFL player this season, so he has no fantasy role for the rest of 2026.

Role

None. He announced his retirement after 18 seasons (NFL.com and Steelers.com), and his last game was the playoff loss to the Chiefs. Current coverage in October 2026 (Yahoo, Steelers Wire, Steelers Now) calls him a "former" Steelers quarterback who comments on the team on his Footbahlin' podcast. I found no report of a comeback or a roster spot. The Steelers' QB room is a separate matter. An August 2026 Steelernation piece describes a four-QB room under Mike McCarthy, and CBS Sports in May 2026 mentioned rookie Drew Allar. I did not read a current depth chart, so I won't say who starts. Our data lists his age as 39. I could not reconcile that with the retirement coverage, so I have not relied on it.

The case for

There isn't one. I found no reporting that he is on any roster or is expected to play.

The case against

He is retired and working as a media commentator. Early October coverage shows him criticizing the Steelers' Week 4 loss to the Browns from outside the team.
