Brock Purdy
Purdy is a locked-in starter and has been one of the top fantasy quarterbacks this season. The one real risk is the weapons around him, and the Falcons loss, with two interceptions, shows how thin that group has become.
Role
Full-time starter. A Statchasers page from about 16 days ago shows 31.6 pass attempts per game and 16.3 rush yards per game. It lists Mac Jones as the next quarterback on the depth chart if Purdy misses time. FantasyPros' expert note, from about 9 days ago, says Mike Evans was expected to miss some time, which leaves George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey as his top options. I did not read a current depth chart or snap report, so I have no snap share and no target split.
The early-season production was elite. FantasyData said he led the NFL in touchdown passes and EPA per play through three weeks. It also had him second in MVP odds behind Josh Allen and the QB2 in fantasy to that point. Statchasers had him at 23.7 PPR points per game as QB2 after Week 5, and said the job is secure. Optimists argue his efficiency and the offense's scheme travel even when receivers are missing. FantasyData called him a system quarterback who can succeed with whoever is at receiver.
Injuries keep piling up on offense, and the coverage I found says Evans was expected to miss time. Kittle's Achilles recovery was also flagged in preseason coverage. Purdy missed eight games last season with toe and shoulder injuries, and Statchasers calls health the main risk. Sunday's 29-20 loss to Atlanta, with two interceptions, fits the bearish worry that a depleted receiving group hurts his output.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement that he is a strong QB1 with a secure job. The only open question is how much the receiver injuries, especially Evans' absence, cut into his production. I found no analyst who argues he should be benched or demoted.
