Ward is the Titans' locked-in starter on the NFL's lowest-scoring offense, and his rest-of-season output depends on whether protection and execution around him improve.

He is the full-time starter, and CBS Sports reported on Oct. 12 that coach Robert Saleh committed to him after the 0-5 start. I found no snap share or backup competition in current reporting. He is in his first season under offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, in a system built on option routes. His targets include rookie Carnell Tate and free agent Wan'Dale Robinson, per Paul Kuharsky's preseason profile. Through five games he has 98 completions for 896 yards, 3 TD and 3 INT (Yahoo, citing game stats). The Titans lead the NFL in neither points nor yards: they rank last in both, at 11.6 points and 246.4 yards per game.
Saleh says the team has the "utmost confidence" in him and sees improvement from last year. CBS notes that the Texans game was partly on the people around him: he faced pressure on 21 dropbacks, the second most in a game in his career, and went 9-for-16 for 70 yards under pressure. He completed 23 of 36, which CBS called fairly accurate, and analysts still credit his arm talent and off-script creativity.
He is 3-19 as a starter. Greg Cosell sees footwork and mechanical problems on tape, and Yahoo describes inaccurate throws on basic plays and discomfort in Daboll's system. He ranked 30th in one set of QB power rankings. The offense scored no touchdowns against Houston and failed to score on its last eight possessions. A 5x Pro Bowler said the "bust" label is already visible in his play.
Where analysts split
The split is whether his struggles come from him (footwork, accuracy, processing, per Cosell and others) or from the surrounding offense (protection, separation, weapons, per CBS's pressure data and Saleh's defense of him). I found no source that says his job is in danger right now.
