He has no snaps or touches this season. Yahoo/USA Today (Oct. 26) says Tanner McKee is starting in his place, beginning with Monday Night Football against Dallas. Yahoo (about three days old) reports that veteran Andy Dalton reportedly declined an offer to return, so McKee has no named veteran competitor in what I found. I did not read the Eagles' depth chart and have no snap or target figures for McKee.
The optimism concerns his long-term health, not this season. His agent and the Eagles have both voiced optimism about his long-term outlook. A team and agent statement described his prognosis as very good. Rapoport reported (via ESPN) that the clot is considered provoked, because he was cleated in the calf, which is a favorable sign with treatment.
