Malik Willis
Willis is Miami's entrenched starting quarterback on an 0-5 team, and what he gives you for the rest of this season is rushing production alongside shaky passing efficiency.
Role
He is the Dolphins' starter. Yahoo lists him at 712 passing yards through five games (178.0 per game), and PFF (page indexed about 25 days ago, so it predates Week 5) had him at 84 scramble yards and one rushing TD. Last week he ran eight times for 74 yards and a score, including a 39-yard scramble and a fourth-quarter QB-sneak TD (NFL.com video titles). Cam Miller and Quinn Ewers are on the ESPN roster page as quarterbacks. I found no reporting on any competition for the job and did not read a depth chart. I have no snap-share figure.
He runs well, and that adds a rushing floor most quarterbacks lack. Miami scored a season-high 31 points against Cincinnati and had multiple touchdowns for the first time in five games. He reunited with coach Jeff Hafley and GM Jon-Eric Sullivan, who both spent time with him in Green Bay (Axios). He also signed a three-year, $67.5M deal with $45M guaranteed (Flashscore), which points to a long commitment.
His passing has been poor. PFF (indexed before Week 5) had his overall grade at 47.3, 32nd of 33 qualified QBs, and his passing TDs at 1, 32nd of 33. Yahoo shows a 73.0 QB rating. PFF also flagged him as much weaker against man coverage than zone. In Week 5 he threw two interceptions and had two fumbles, losing one. Yahoo's headlines say his head coach didn't hold back on him after the loss, and Joe Schad said Miami needs better decisions and play from him. The offense has also lost Jaylen Waddle (traded to Denver) and Tyreek Hill (released).
Where analysts split
I found no analyst split on whether he keeps the job. The open question is whether his rushing can offset weak passing efficiency and turnovers, and I found no explicit fantasy-analyst debate on it.
