Angus Booth
Angus Booth is a depth defense prospect who is not in the Kings' current lineup, so he is mainly a recall candidate for the rest of the season.
Role
The Daily Faceoff Kings line page (fetched Oct. 12, last updated Oct. 11) lists six defensemen, and Booth is not one of them. Those six are Edmundson, Clarke, Dumoulin, Doughty, Anderson and Ceci. He is not on either power-play unit or either penalty-kill unit on that page. A Hockey Royalty camp preview (Sept. 8) expected him to start the year with AHL Ontario and said Edmundson and Dumoulin, both signed for two more seasons, block an everyday NHL role. I did not confirm his current AHL assignment on an official transactions page. Any NHL time would likely be third-pair minutes, and that is my inference and not reported.
Hockey Royalty's writer is a longtime fan and calls him an underrated defenseman with good mobility, gap control and stick placement. They also credit him with being able to play his off side. They think he gets some NHL games this year and could be a third-pair defenseman later. He scored on his NHL debut on March 2, 2026, and last season he played 1 game, scored 1 goal and logged 12 minutes of ice time. The same write-up credits him with 18 points in 61 AHL games.
The same preview says he is not offensively gifted and needs more strength to become an NHL regular. Six established defensemen are ahead of him on the Daily Faceoff page, and the Kings have Edmundson and Dumoulin under contract for two more seasons. His production path is thin: 18 points in 61 AHL games, with 17 of them assists, and he is not on any special-teams unit. His NHL sample is one game.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement. The only current opinion I found is that he is a possible call-up. I did not find any analyst who expects an everyday NHL job this season.
