Marek Alscher

Consensus #213 · D30 · tier 9Week 5: 4 gamesUpdated Oct 12

Alscher looks like Charlotte depth for now, with no NHL role found in current reporting, so he is a call-up option only.

Role

No NHL line, power-play unit or ice-time role found in current coverage. The Inside the Rink preview for Florida at Buffalo, dated 12 October, lists Forsling-Ekblad, Mikkola-Jones and Gudas-Kulikov as the pairs, and Alscher is not named. Florida Hockey Now's projection, dated 2 days ago, shows the same six defensemen. Eliteprospects shows him sent back to Charlotte on 18 April 2026. I did not find a current AHL assignment report for this season. The fetch of Daily Faceoff's line page failed, so I am not citing it. He made his NHL debut on 9 April 2026 and, per the club's Q&A, played over 19 minutes in each of his first two games while Florida was injury-riddled. If a Panthers defenseman is injured, he would compete for the work with whatever other depth Florida carries, and I could not confirm who that is.

The case for

He is a 6-foot-3 left-shot defenseman who could play either side, and he has already played over 19 minutes in NHL games. Dobber Prospects projected a third-pair role in 2026-27 and called him a physical, transition-minded defender. Florida's defense is old: Daily Faceoff's preview has Kulikov at 35 and Gudas at 36 on the projected bottom pair. If injuries hit that group, he is a plausible recall.

The case against

He is not in Florida's current projected lineup, and his entry-level deal runs through 2026-27. Dobber Prospects says his peripherals are unlikely to offset the fact that he has never scored much, even at lower levels. His 3 points in 4 games last season came in an injury-driven stretch, and Florida's six defensemen are all veterans. He would score little and sit behind established players even if recalled.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement: no current coverage I found disputes that he is outside the NHL lineup. The only open question is whether and when an injury or a Kulikov-Gudas slump gets him recalled, and no analyst I found addressed that.

Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
