Simon Lundmark
Lundmark is a fringe AHL depth defenseman who has been reassigned off the Lightning's NHL roster for the 2026-27 season and offers essentially no fantasy relevance unless Tampa Bay suffers multiple injuries on the blue line.
Role
Per the Lightning's own transaction announcement and Daily Faceoff's waiver tracker (both dated September 25, 2026), Lundmark was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch as Tampa Bay trimmed its training camp roster; he was not claimed by any other club (RotoWire, checked September 25, 2026), so he clears to Syracuse. He is not currently on the Lightning's NHL roster for the 2026-27 season opener. Last season he made his NHL debut on January 24, 2026 at Columbus, logging 16:45 of ice time in what remains his only NHL regular-season appearance, before being returned to Syracuse on January 27, 2026. Any 2026-27 NHL role would only come via a recall driven by injuries on Tampa Bay's blue line, and no line combination or usage reporting exists for him on an NHL depth chart right now because he is not on the active roster.
He is a right-shot, 6-foot-2 defenseman who has already gotten one NHL look and remains the Lightning's next man up on defense depth charts, so an injury to a regular Lightning defenseman could prompt another recall.
RotoWire's own capsule (checked September 25, 2026) notes he has never topped 20 points in five AHL seasons and projects that any NHL time in 2026-27 would come in a minimal-usage, low-event depth role with little scoring upside.
Where analysts split
There is no analyst disagreement to report here: the coverage found is uniformly about a roster/transaction move (waivers to AHL Syracuse) rather than a debate over his role, ice time, or power-play usage, since he is not currently rostered in the NHL.
Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
