Derrick Jones Jr.
Derrick Jones Jr. is a defense-first wing with low offensive usage. He has an expanded opening-week role while Brandon Ingram is out with an Achilles injury, and how long that lasts is unconfirmed.
Role
In the Oct. 22 opener (a 121-96 win over the Kings), RotoWire and Fox Sports blurbs have him at 26 minutes with eight points, six rebounds and five assists. Neither blurb says whether he started, and I did not find a confirmed starting five or a minutes tracker. Fox's blurb says Ingram's Achilles injury leaves the door open for more playing time, and it adds that Jones has typically been low-usage. Last season the Clippers had him in the starting five early, and at one point he was competing with John Collins for the final starting spot. A 213hoops exit interview (published months ago, not this season) called him a rotation-caliber or low-level starter. I did not find current reporting on back-to-back rest plans. Last season's line in our data is 3 GP, so it says little about his usage.
Ingram's absence opens perimeter minutes, and Jones showed in the opener that he can contribute beyond scoring, with rebounds and assists. An SI Clippers site piece from about 54 days ago says coach Tyronn Lue has to find him minutes and that a healthy Jones giving 25 to 30 minutes would help a thin defense. He guards multiple positions and brings steals and blocks.
His minutes depend on who is available. When the Clippers had a fuller wing group last season, he went back to a reserve role and fell nearly out of the rotation after the trade deadline, averaging 13.2 minutes per game (RotoWire). Fox Sports notes his low usage, and says his value tends to come from defensive stats rather than offensive volume. Once Ingram is back, that extra work could shrink.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether the opener's 26 minutes is a durable role or a stopgap until Ingram returns. The sources I found do not give Ingram's return timeline, and I did not find a published disagreement between named analysts.

Right knee soreness, out Monday
Ruled out for one game with a next chance to play Wednesday vs. Miami; routine short-term absence but worth confirming he returns on schedule.
What would change this: Wednesday injury report / practice status ahead of Heat game
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
