Tyler Burton
Burton is not on an NBA roster right now, so for the rest of this season he is a G League depth forward and not a fantasy option unless he gets another NBA call-up.
Role
No NBA role is reported. NBA.com's player page, read in search results, shows the Warriors waived him on Oct 17 after an Exhibit 10 deal signed Oct 12. Hoops Rumors said the plan on signing was for him to go to the Warriors' G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. Wikipedia lists him with Santa Cruz, but I did not confirm his G League assignment or any minutes there. The NBA player page's team tag is stale. His one NBA stretch was 12 games for Memphis last season on 10-day deals. He averaged 10.8 points and 25.6 minutes in those games, with no starts.
Optimists point to last spring. He signed with Memphis through a hardship exception and played every game of that stretch, averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 threes in 25.6 minutes. He scored a career-high 23 points against Boston. He also scored 17.9 points a game in 14 G League games for Memphis, with 90.5 percent free-throw shooting. If injuries hit an NBA team's forward depth, he is a proven short-term call-up with a track record of getting immediate minutes.
Skeptics point to the efficiency and the status. His NBA shooting was 37.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three on volume. His NBA minutes came only because Memphis was short-handed. He is undrafted, 26, and was waived within days of signing in camp. He has no guaranteed NBA deal. Any call-up would likely be a 10-day contract, and a rotation spot would depend on someone else's injuries.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement. I found no analyst coverage of him this season, only transaction notes that treat him as G League depth.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
