Tyrese Haliburton

Consensus #12 · PG7 · tier 2Week 3: 3 gamesOutUpdated Nov 2

Haliburton is out for at least the next two weeks with a mild left hamstring strain, four games into his return from a torn Achilles, so for now he is an injured star with an open return date.

Role

Before the injury he averaged 21.8 points and 9.5 assists over 33 minutes per game in Indiana's first four games (Yahoo/SI reporting, about Oct 28). Coach Rick Carlisle calls him week-to-week, and no update is expected for at least two weeks. I found no reported return date, minutes limit or back-to-back plan. Guard depth is thin: T.J. McConnell (hamstring) and Andrew Nembhard (neck) were both listed as hurt, so I cannot say who absorbs his minutes. Yahoo said the Pacers are expected to be cautious given his history.

The case for

The strain is described as mild, and the Pacers met with a hamstring specialist before giving that grade. He looked like his old self in four games after 16 months away. Haliburton had missed only one extra game after the January 2025 hamstring tightness. Once he is cleared, he is the engine of the offense again.

The case against

This is the same left hamstring that has bothered him repeatedly, including a re-aggravation in 2023-24 and a playoff re-injury in 2024. Hamstrings are prone to re-injury, and he is still working back from an Achilles tear. He also said he felt "a little beat up" after the Oct 26 back-to-back. SI argued that issues like this are likely when a player returns from an Achilles injury. A cautious Pacers team could stretch the absence well past two weeks and manage his minutes after he returns.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement that he misses at least two weeks. The open question is how long the absence runs beyond that, and whether Indiana limits his minutes or back-to-backs once he returns given the hamstring history. No source I found gives a firm date.

Injury: Out: assessed avoid

Hamstring, out at least two weeks

Haliburton is confirmed out for a minimum of two weeks and the report explicitly warns the absence could extend further given typical hamstring recovery timelines.

What would change this: Team confirmation of a return date or practice participation update

Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
