Borregales is the Patriots' clear, uncontested starting kicker, and his fantasy output now depends mostly on how often the New England offense gets him field-goal tries.

He is the lone kicker on field goals and extra points. The ESPN profile I found lists him as active and says he wears No. 8, but it was indexed about 60 days ago, so I did not treat it as current. The Fox Sports page snippet (indexed about 15 days ago) gave him 5 field goals made on 7 attempts. RotoBaller (Oct 10) has him 5-for-7 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points through four weeks. The wire note puts Sunday's win at 1 of 1 on field goals and 6 of 6 on extra points. I found no current competitor for the job. The only competition I found was last summer's camp battle, which he won over John Parker Romo. PatsPulpit's 2026 scouting report (indexed about 107 days ago) calls him the undisputed kicker. His 2025 numbers came out of that summer: 27 of 32 on field goals and 53 of 55 on extra points.
The job is secure and the leg is proven. As a rookie he went 27-for-32 on field goals and 53-for-55 on extra points, and PatsPulpit says he went 4-of-5 from 50 or more. He kicked well in bad weather in the playoffs. The Patriots' 45-17 win over Las Vegas suggests the offense may be improving. Better offense could mean more extra points and more drives that end in field-goal range.
Volume is the problem. RotoBaller (Oct 10) ranked him 29th among kickers in fantasy points through four weeks and cited a couple of missed kicks and lower field-goal volume. His only field-goal try against Las Vegas was a 28-yarder. A lopsided win like that produces extra points more than long field goals. RotoBaller notes that he scored just three fantasy points in the previous win, so a good offense hasn't automatically meant a good kicker line.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement on his job security and leg. The only open question I found is whether the Patriots' offense will generate enough field-goal attempts, not whether he is the kicker. I found no analyst split beyond that.
