Spencer Shrader
Shrader is the Colts' every-week kicker, and he is off to one of the best starts of any kicker this season.
Role
He is the sole kicker on the Colts, who have a productive offense that often stalls and settles for field goals. A Yahoo/Colts Wire piece from about six days ago has him 16-for-16 on field goals, including six from 50-plus yards. Per the Colts' own site, he went 5-for-5 against Pittsburgh in Week 5, which ties the franchise single-game record. The wire note has him 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on PATs in Sunday's 26-20 loss to Tennessee. I found no reporting of a kicker competing with him.
Special teams coordinator Brian Mason, quoted via The Athletic's James Boyd, says Shrader is "kicking at a really high level." He has the range to take long attempts, since six of his makes are from 50-plus yards and his long is 58. Indy often settles for field goals, which gives him volume. In Week 5 he accounted for 73% of the Colts' points.
Kicker output swings a lot from week to week, and a perfect field-goal streak is unlikely to hold. Fox Sports' player page, indexed about six days ago, mentions a pregame groin tweak before the Washington game in London. He kicked through it, and Fox said Mason described the kicker as back to his September 2025 form. Volume also depends on the offense stalling. A better red-zone offense would turn some of his field goals into touchdowns and extra points. One Week 5 write-up said the Colts needed more touchdowns and fewer field goals.
