Colby Parkinson

Consensus #261 · TE35Week 9: at WAS, 30th vs TEOutUpdated Oct 20

Parkinson is a high-snap tight end in a crowded Rams room, and his Week 6 line (5-31-1) is the best of a season in which his target volume has been modest.

Role

FTN (Oct 20) has him at 72% of snaps against Arizona, with 13 targets through six games. The same piece has Tyler Higbee at 83% of snaps and 29 targets on the season. Parkinson hurt his shoulder in Week 3 and missed Week 4, according to RotoWire. He returned for the Week 5 Monday night loss to the Bills with about 65% of snaps and one catch on two targets. Fox Sports lists Terrance Ferguson on IR (ankle), and Davis Allen and rookie Max Klare are also in the room. Against Arizona his six targets tied Kyren Williams for second on the team behind Puka Nacua's seven (ESPN). I did not read a current depth chart page, so I can't say who is listed first.

The case for

He is on the field a lot, and he scored in Week 6. He had a big 2025 as the room's top pass catcher: 43 catches on 56 targets for 408 yards and eight TDs (RotoWire). FTN floats the idea that targets could shift to the tight ends if Davante Adams misses time. I did not find the details of Adams' injury.

The case against

Higbee has been the more consistently involved pass catcher, and NBC noted he has been TE1-viable in each of the previous two weeks. FTN warns against chasing one week of production and notes Parkinson has only 13 targets through six games. ESPN calls him largely ignorable in fantasy as the main blocking tight end. A Week 6 touchdown also doesn't change that Rams passing volume goes first to Nacua and the receivers.

Where analysts split

The split is whether Parkinson or Higbee is the Rams' real receiving tight end. Parkinson's snap share is high, but targets and recent fantasy usefulness have leaned toward Higbee. Sources also differ on whether an Adams absence would feed the tight ends or mostly the receivers.

Injury: Out: assessed real

Ribs, questionable with expected return date given

Report lists him as out currently with a ribs issue and an expected return date of 11/08, meaning he is likely to miss this week's game.

What would change this: Practice participation report or official game status update closer to the 11/08 return window.

Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
