Tyler Warren
Warren is the Colts' most reliable pass catcher and a volume-driven tight end when healthy, but a groin injury has cost him recent games and his return date has not been reported.
Role
Before the injury he was the Colts' top pass-game option. Through five games he had 36 targets and a 30-213-2 line (FantasyData and Fox Sports, checked Oct 27). SumerSports lists his 2026 target share at 21.69% and has him at 166 routes run. NBC Sports noted he ran a route on 40 of 47 dropbacks in one game and shared the team lead in targets with Keenan Allen. His 2025 usage was 899 of 1,075 offensive snaps, per Colts.com, and Mo Alie-Cox was the next tight end at 421. When he sits, Will Mallory is the main beneficiary (six targets in Warren's absence, per Fox Sports). Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree are also named as tight ends who pick up work. I did not find a current 2026 snap-share figure or a depth chart reading, so I report neither.
Daniel Jones has few passing-game options he can trust. Warren has had at least seven targets in three of four games before the injury. Fox Sports and NBC Sports both say he gets strong volume as a rare reliable target. NBC Sports treats him as a TE1 on that volume, and FantasyData had him as the TE7 in half-PPR through Week 5 with nine or more PPR points in each of his first five games.
The offense is inefficient and the ceiling is limited. NBC Sports says Jones's play keeps the passing game's ceiling in check. It also says Warren relies on screens and leak concepts built off play action and doesn't gain much yardage unless he breaks a tackle. SumerSports has his 2026 average at 7.1 yards per reception. NBC also noted he was out-targeted by Laquon Treadwell and Ashton Dulin in the Week 4 win over the Commanders. The groin problem dates to training camp and has now cost him games, so a recurrence is a real risk.
Where analysts split
The disagreement is about ceiling, not role. NBC Sports says he is a TE1 on reliable volume but lacks top-five upside unless Jones improves. Whether the targets turn into yardage and touchdowns depends on the quarterback. His return timeline is the other open question: I found no practice report or coach update dated after the wire report.
