Eli Stowers

Consensus #298 · TE43Week 9: vs NYG, 10th vs TEUpdated Oct 20

Stowers is a rookie second-round pick who has not played a regular-season snap, and for the rest of this season he looks like a depth pass-catcher behind Dallas Goedert once he is healthy.

Role

He has no regular-season snaps or targets yet. ESPN's fantasy note (current) says he should see snaps as a catch-first tight end behind Goedert once he is ready. NBC Sports' injury note from earlier in the season listed him as co-TE3. In August, CBS/RotoWire had him as the No. 2 or No. 3 tight end on the unofficial depth chart, and Johnny Mundt and Grant Calcaterra competed for snaps. I did not find a current depth chart or any snap-share data, so I can't give a snap or target share. Per the supplied wire report, he is out for Sunday's game against the Panthers (Week 6). That follows the opening of his 21-day practice window, which NBC reported on Oct. 14 (he was limited in practice that Wednesday).

The case for

He has the profile of a future starter. He is a converted quarterback who peaked with a 62-769-4 receiving line at Vanderbilt in 2025. ESPN says his career 2.38 yards per route run is the best in his tight end class, and 72% of his college routes came from the slot. SI argued he is a true pass-catching TE2 in Sean Mannion's offense, and that the offense's horizontal passing game suits him. If Goedert misses time, CBS/RotoWire says his role could grow.

The case against

He has been hurt for much of his rookie year. He missed spring practices, had a quiet camp, and then picked up a preseason hamstring injury. He started the season on injured reserve with hamstring and quad injuries. His 21-day window is running and he has already been ruled out again. He is also not much of a blocker (ESPN), and Goedert, a veteran, is the established starter. NBC said he came into the year unlikely to contribute in a meaningful way, and ESPN projects minimal fantasy value behind Goedert as a rookie.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement on the near term: every source I found has him behind Goedert. The only open question is the size of his depth role. SI called him a true TE2 in the passing game, while NBC and CBS/RotoWire had him third or co-third in August and September. I found no coverage that settles which description is right, because he hasn't played.
