Emeka Egbuka
Egbuka is Tampa Bay's most-targeted receiver and a full-time player, but his production now depends on an undrafted rookie quarterback until Baker Mayfield returns.

He has led the Bucs in targets in recent games: nine against Dallas in Week 5 and 16 against Pittsburgh in Week 6. RotoWire's page showed him at 86% and 85% of team snaps in two games (the page was indexed some time ago, so treat this as a rough guide). It also showed a 21.9% team target share. Chris Godwin Jr., Tez Johnson, Ted Hurst III and tight end Cade Otton compete for targets. Jalen McMillan is on injured reserve with a knee injury, per FantasyData. Jalon Daniels has made three straight starts at quarterback, and Bucky Irving gets the rushing work. I did not find a current depth chart or a weekly snap count for Week 6, so I am not reporting either.
The volume is real. FantasyData's analyst says his role "remains healthy" and that the problem is the quality of his targets, not how many he gets. NBC Sports called him the clear No. 1 target after Week 2. The offense also uses him in new ways: a jet-sweep rushing touchdown in Week 5 and a two-yard touchdown from Daniels in Week 6. Daniels twice nearly connected with him for scores in Week 6, so the chances are there. If Mayfield returns, the offense should improve. Yahoo reports he could be out as many as six weeks from a dislocated right thumb.
The yardage is thin for the number of targets. He caught seven of 16 for 48 yards in Week 6. Pewter Report-sourced coverage on FantasyData has coach Todd Bowles saying the team must get the ball to Egbuka and Godwin better. Daniels threw two interceptions and Tampa Bay is 1-5, so the offense is struggling. RotoWire notes Egbuka tied for the league high in drops last season, and Godwin is a growing part of the passing game. Mayfield's return date is uncertain, and I found no source that gives one.
Where analysts split
The disagreement is whether his target volume can turn into yards while Daniels starts, or only once Mayfield is back. FantasyData's read is that the usage is encouraging and the quality of targets is the problem. NBC Sports described the Week 4 game as the bottom falling out after he had been the No. 1 receiver. The Week 6 target total (16) is the strongest evidence that the volume is holding.
