Jennings is a full-time Vikings receiver by snap count who has barely been targeted: he has 2 catches for 9 yards on the season, and the reporting I found expects his role to shrink further.
Role
He is a third wideout behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison (ESPN's depth note, Oct. 13). In Week 5 at New Orleans he had the second most WR snaps (47) with Addison out (hamstring), but only one target. He has not drawn more than two targets in any game (RotoWire). He played a season-high 74 snaps against Miami and was targeted once (Judd Zulgad's Substack). Tai Felton and Myles Price are the fourth and fifth receivers, and Zulgad notes they have combined for more targets and yards than Jennings. Minnesota is on its Week 6 bye. RotoWire says Addison's return could cut his role further.
The snap volume is real and he is trusted on the field. Purple PTSD cites about 75% of offensive snaps. If Jefferson or Addison misses time, he is the next man up. The Vikings signed him expecting a very strong receiver room, and he had back-to-back strong seasons in San Francisco. The only reporting I found that supports this case is that opportunity-based argument. None of it shows production.
He is on the field mostly as a blocker and is not part of the passing game. He has 2 catches for 9 yards, and on Week 4's 74 snaps with Jefferson out he got one target. ESPN calls him a third option who will not be consistent and is barely worth late-round consideration. RotoBaller had him at WR74 in its early Week 5 rankings. Zulgad's piece asks whether the Vikings and Jennings are headed for a divorce.
Where analysts split
Whether his heavy snap share will ever turn into targets. Optimists point to the snaps and the Jefferson and Addison injuries. Skeptics say the snaps are blocking-driven, and that Addison's return sends him further down the pecking order. I found no analyst arguing he will clearly become a target earner.
