Jauan Jennings

Consensus #184 · WR69Week 2: at CHI, 31st vs WRUpdated Sep 5

Jennings is Minnesota's clear WR3, a physical outside/red-zone weapon behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, but his target volume and week-to-week fantasy relevance take a real hit moving on from San Francisco's offense.

Role

Projected as Minnesota's third receiver, likely playing primarily outside (he ran 70%+ of his routes there in 2025) behind Jefferson and Addison; Tai Felton and Jalen Nailor are the only real competition for the WR3/4 targets, and per Establish The Run analysis Felton barely played as a rookie, so Jennings should have little pushback for that role. He was held out of the final two preseason games for rest after playing just four snaps in the opener, which is standard veteran-starter management, not an injury concern.

The case for

He's coming off a career year in San Francisco (55-643-9 with an outsized red-zone target share) and head coach Kevin O'Connell reportedly covets his size, physicality and run-blocking, which could translate into a real red-zone/contested-catch role even in a lower-volume offense.

The case against

FantasyPros and other outlooks note his target share was modest even in his best season (under 20%), and slotting behind two entrenched, high-target receivers in Jefferson and Addison likely caps his week-to-week floor, making him touchdown-dependent for fantasy value.

Where analysts split

Analysts don't dispute that he's the clear WR3 in Minnesota; the real question is whether his red-zone/contested-catch role and O'Connell's evident fondness for him can produce enough scoring chances to offset a much smaller overall target share than he had in San Francisco.
