The Chiefs D/ST has been a middling fantasy unit through four games, and Week 6 against the winless Chargers is the best matchup it has had so far.

This is a team unit. Steve Spagnuolo is the defensive coordinator. Sportsnaut (Week 6 rankings) says Mansoor Delane missed a game and that Delane and R Mason Thomas are still new to the system. RotoWire says the unit comes out of the bye as perhaps the league's healthiest defense. It plays the Chargers at home in Week 6, then at Seattle and at Denver per FantasyPros. I did not read a depth chart or a snap tracker.
The matchup is the case. Week 6 rankers describe a Chargers offense with a bad line and injured receivers. Herbert has thrown an interception in every game and has been sacked heavily. Chiefs defenders get an extra week of rest, and Kansas City is favored by 8.5 in the early line, per Fantasy Life. Sportsnaut credits the unit with 5.0 yards per play allowed through four games, eighth-best in the NFL, and Fantasy Life counts seven forced turnovers in four games. Pressure rate is in the top 12 per Rotoballer.
The production has been modest. FantasyPros has the unit at 6.3 fantasy points per game, and The Game Haus has it at 5.8, 21st in the league, with one double-digit game (Week 1 vs. Denver). Rotoballer says it has only four sacks in four games and the worst sack rate in the NFL. Sacks are a big part of D/ST scoring. The Chiefs have also allowed 329 receiving yards and four touchdowns to tight ends, per FantasyPros. The next two games are at Seattle and at Denver, and RotoWire projects them 14th and 7th at D/ST.
Where analysts split
Analysts agree on Week 6: sources rank the Chiefs between first and fifth, and none I read fades them. The open question is whether pressure turns into sacks. Rotoballer sees top-12 pressure and expects it to convert against the Chargers' line. The results so far, 5.8 to 6.3 points per game and the league's lowest sack rate, show it hasn't yet. The numbers disagree slightly by source, so treat them as approximate.
