Kayshon Boutte
Boutte is a depth receiver in a crowded, shifting Texans WR group whose snaps have dropped since Marvin Harrison arrived, and the reporting I found does not show him holding a stable role.
Role
Week 7 vs. the Giants: 19 snaps, a 31% share, per Athlon's snap count table. The wire note has him at 1 catch on 2 targets. Earlier in the season he led the WR group in snaps while Nico Collins missed games: 53 of 76 in Week 2, 35 of 52 in Week 3 and 32 in Week 4 (NBC Sports/Rotoworld). ESPN's Week 6 note had him at 26 of 63 snaps, 41.3%, a season low and fourth among Houston receivers. Competition for the work includes Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel (who has a toe injury, per Athlon), Jared Wayne, Tank Dell and the newly acquired Marvin Harrison Jr. I did not read the team's depth chart, so I can't say where he is listed.
He was the snap leader in the early-season platoon, and NBC's Rivers McCown wrote in Week 3 that he looked best of the group. He is a deep-ball threat: PFF has his average depth of target at 14.4 yards. If Noel's toe injury costs him time, or the coaches keep rotating receivers, snaps could open up. The outlook is deep-league only.
Harrison's arrival pushed Boutte down the pecking order. His snap share has slid from 41.3% in Week 6 to 31% in Week 7. His targets are small: 2 in Week 7, 3 in Week 6, and 23 on the season through PFF's page, which predates Week 7. NBC called Houston's receiver rotation a platoon with no clear winner. PFF's Week 7 projection was 4.1 and ranked him WR-80.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether Harrison and Dell take over the snaps as they learn the offense, or whether the Texans keep rotating receivers and leave Boutte a share. ESPN expects Boutte to lose snaps as Harrison's playbook grasp improves. NBC treats the whole group as an unresolved platoon. I did not find an analyst arguing he will keep a bigger role once Collins is healthy.
