Malachi Fields
Fields is a rookie third-round pick who plays a lot of snaps as a Giants starter but gets a modest share of the targets, behind Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely.
Role
He has played 50 of 69 offensive snaps in Week 1 and 44 snaps in Week 3 (CBS/Rotowire). In Week 4 he ran 22 routes, against 30 for Nabers and 26 for Darnell Mooney (ESPN/Fox, Week 4 note). Through four games he has 8 catches for 126 yards and 1 TD, and he has out-targeted Mooney 15 to 10 (ESPN). Nabers and Likely are ahead of him in the target pecking order. RotoBaller (two days ago) called the Giants a low-volume passing offense and said Nabers and Likely were both battling injuries heading into Week 5. I did not read a current depth chart page. Jameis Winston threw his touchdown in Week 4, and Jaxson Dart left the Week 2 game with a knee injury. I did not confirm who the quarterback is going forward.
He is 6-4, 222 pounds, has the best size and contested-catch profile in the room, and began the year as the WR2 opposite Nabers (NBC, ESPN). He is also a reliable blocker and had a 1.6% college drop rate. He is out-targeting Mooney, and if Nabers or Likely misses time, his target share could grow. A CBS headline on Fields mentions an expanded role with someone named Austin out. I could not read that item, so I do not know who Austin is or whether it is current.
The passing game has little volume to share, and Fields is the third option behind Nabers and Likely. His route count in Week 4 put him behind both Nabers and Mooney even though his snap count is high. He has been targeted 6, 4, 3 and 2 times in the games I have numbers for, and Week 4 was one of his lower target totals. A good part of his production came from one touchdown and one 40-yard gain.

The split is over whether his snap count will turn into targets. Early NBC and ESPN coverage called him the clear WR2. The Week 4 ESPN/Fox note called him the clear WR3 by routes behind Nabers and Mooney. RotoBaller (two days ago) called him a third option in a low-volume offense. Nabers' and Likely's health is the open variable.
