Washington is Miami's most-targeted receiver and a short-area, schemed-touch player with return duty, and his current volume is boosted by Caleb Douglas's absence.

Per MiamiDolphins.com via Fox Sports (Sept 22), he played 43 of 59 offensive snaps in Week 2, plus special teams. NBC Sports (Sept 20) had him running a route on 26 of 30 dropbacks and described him as the No. 2 receiver. Rotowire's page has him at 28 targets and a 27.5% team target share through the Bengals game's prior week, and PFF has a 10.2-yard average depth of target, so his work stays short. He also returns kicks and punts and gets occasional rushes. ESPN's note says he led Miami in catches, yards and targets while Douglas missed a third straight game with an ankle injury. Jalen Tolbert, Chris Bell, Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr. are named as the competition, but I did not find a current depth chart or snap split for the Bengals game.
Yahoo (Oct 12) notes he has at least three catches and 43 yards in all five games, and his catch total has risen or held every week. Rotowire lists a 27.5% team target share and 1.92 yards per route run. He is the target hub in an offense with few other proven options.
NBC Sports (Sept 20) said he isn't seeing downfield passes and that Miami struggles to move the ball. He is still without a touchdown, and Malik Willis threw for only 137 yards against Cincinnati. ESPN's preseason view was that his ceiling is a short-range target and occasional rusher. His volume rose while Douglas was out and may shrink when Douglas returns.
Where analysts split
The question is how durable his target lead is once Caleb Douglas is healthy. Yahoo reads his usage as growing, while NBC and ESPN see a capped, short-area role in a struggling passing offense. I found no source that gives Douglas's return timeline.
