Andrews is still Baltimore's primary tight end, but his production has faded to a fringe, touchdown-dependent role, and ESPN's latest note calls him no longer a must-roster asset.
Role
Through Week 6 (Rotowire, Oct. 19) he led Ravens tight ends with 41 offensive snaps. Rookie fifth-rounder Josh Cuevas is the visible challenger: he went 4-44-1 on five targets in that game, and Matthew Hibner also appears in the snap table. I have no current snap-share percentage. Through seven games he has 26 catches on 37 targets for 204 yards and one touchdown (ESPN, Oct. 26). He had fewer than five targets only in Week 6, and he has gone five straight games under 30 receiving yards. FantasyData, citing OC Declan Doyle, says the staff never considered cutting his targets. He is also a goal-line factor, with top-10 end zone targets seven years running (ESPN).
Volume and trust remain. FantasyData noted at least six targets in four of his first five games, and Doyle praised him publicly. Lamar Jackson (ankle) has missed two games, and ESPN and Rotowire expect Andrews's production and scoring floor to rise if Jackson returns. His goal-line usage is a touchdown path, and the loss of Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar in free agency cleared competition.
The production is thin. He had three or fewer catches in consecutive games, a lost fumble in Week 5, and just one catch on three targets in Week 6 while a rookie out-produced him. Rotowire's Oct. 21 column put him in its "TEs to Sit" group, since he has scored few points in three of his past four games and has one touchdown all year. He is 31, and his usage has slipped for two straight seasons (ESPN).
Where analysts split
Whether his role is a temporary casualty of Jackson's absence and Huntley at quarterback or a lasting decline. ESPN and Rotowire lean toward a rebound once Jackson is back. The sit-leaning analysts say he is too touchdown-dependent to trust either way. A second question is how much Cuevas eats into his snaps and targets. I did not find a source that settles Jackson's return timing.
