Marvin Mims Jr.
Mims is a fourth or fifth option in Denver's receiver rotation who mostly contributes on special teams, based on the latest snap data I found.
Role
In the most recent game I found, the Thursday night win over Seattle, he played 16 offensive snaps (27%) and 8 special teams snaps (Mile High Report snap count, about a day old). Ahead of him that night were Courtland Sutton (46 snaps), Jaylen Waddle (41), Troy Franklin (39) and Lil'Jordan Humphrey (17). In the Week 1 loss to Kansas City he played 9 offensive snaps with zero targets, and he also returned punts (Fox Sports, RotoWire). Pat Bryant is the other young receiver competing for snaps. Fox Sports said Bryant could push Mims for No. 3 duties. I did not find a current snap or target share for Bryant. I also did not read the club's depth chart, so I can't say what it lists today.
He is still listed as a starting receiver on Denver's unofficial depth chart, per Fox Sports in Week 1. He is efficient when targeted, with a 73 percent catch rate last season (Yahoo Sports). The coaching staff has made a point of getting him the ball in the short game. Over Weeks 11-18 last season he had a high target rate per route, with six touchdowns on 33 targets and nine carries (RotoWire). A teammate injury would open snaps.
The offense is crowded with Sutton, Waddle, Franklin, Humphrey and Bryant. He played 9 offensive snaps in Week 1 and 16 in the latest game I found. His targets tend to be short and low-value, and the Seattle game's 15 combined targets for the top five receivers produced no gain longer than 10 yards. Yahoo Sports raised his long-term future in Denver as a question mark. His most dependable value has come as a returner.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether Mims or Pat Bryant holds the fourth receiver spot behind Sutton, Waddle and Franklin. Fox Sports could not tell whether the nine-snap Week 1 was due to his hip issue or to Bryant's play. I found no later reporting that settles it.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
