Rashod Bateman
Bateman is Baltimore's No. 2 wideout behind Zay Flowers, but his usage is volatile and his hold on that job looks shaky, with a trade deadline in play.

Per ESPN's player page (about a week old), he is second on the depth chart behind Flowers. I did not fetch the live depth chart, and I found no snap share. The targets I found: nine in the Week 2 loss to New Orleans with Flowers out, six against Atlanta on Oct. 11, and four in the latest loss to Cincinnati. FOX's Steven Ruiz wrote that he has had three or fewer targets in more than half his games. The competition is rookie Ja'Kobi Lane, who came back from injured reserve and had five targets, plus Devontez Walker and rookie Elijah Sarratt. Ruiz also noted that new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle likes his tight ends, which leaves fewer snaps for receivers.
The receiver room behind Flowers is thin, which Athlon cites as a reason Baltimore would hold him. He has shown a ceiling when targets come: seven catches for 88 yards and a touchdown against New Orleans, and a team-high receiving yardage against Atlanta with late first-down catches. His line was 16-233-1 on 20 targets over his first five games, which already passes his 2025 total. He is also the likeliest to absorb volume when Flowers or Lamar Jackson is out, and Jackson had an ankle sprain earlier this month.
Rotowire projected his role to shrink once Lane returned, and ESPN's note says Lane's production in his first game back could threaten Bateman's No. 2 spot. Outside the New Orleans game he had nine catches for 145 yards in his other four games through Week 5, per Athlon. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said his production "comes and goes." Ruiz called him expendable. ESPN's Week 7 inactives note called him boom-or-bust and noted extra risk after he left the Browns game with a shoulder issue. His latest line was two catches on four targets for 33 yards in a 35-13 loss.
Where analysts split
The split is whether Lane's return pushes Bateman out of the No. 2 role. Rotowire and ESPN's fantasy notes expect Lane to cut into his work. Athlon argues the thin receiver room keeps Bateman involved. A related question is whether Baltimore trades him before the deadline, which Fowler and Ruiz raised. I found no report that a deal is close.
