Blake Coleman
Blake Coleman is a second-line left wing on a deep Wild team. He also gets second power-play and penalty-kill minutes, and the main uncertainty is who plays center and right wing next to him.
Role
Projected lineups for the Oct. 18 game against Columbus (NHL.com, Yahoo Sports and Inside the Rink) have him on line 2 with Ryan Hartman and Bobby Brink. Inside the Rink lists him on the second power-play unit with Hartman, Danila Yurov, Brink and David Spacek, and on the first penalty-kill unit with Michael McCarron, Jonas Brodin and Zach Bogosian. Dobber's Frozen Pool depth chart showed 15:43 of ice time per game over 8 games, including 1:21 of power-play time per game. Kaprizov, Eriksson Ek and Boldy hold line 1 and the first power-play unit. Yakov Trenin, Yurov and Shabanov are on line 3. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's page itself. These are secondary lineup reports and I did not find beat-writer commentary. Ice-time and power-play numbers come from a search snippet of a live page, so they may be stale.
He plays on the second line and the second power-play unit, and he kills penalties. He also shoots often: Covers noted he has had 2+ shots in two of his three home games, and our data shows 16 shots through 8 games per the depth chart snippet. His 3 points so far are all power-play points, matching last season's 3 power-play points from 3 total points in 9 games. Minnesota is 5-2-1 and its top line is producing, which gives the second line room to work as a checking and forechecking group.
At 34 he sits behind the Kaprizov line on both power-play units and in the lineup pecking order. Last season's line of 2 goals and 1 assist in 9 games came with a minus-4 rating. His 2026-27 points are all on the power play, so five-on-five scoring is unproven so far. Preseason projections (The Hockey News, about 90 days old) had him with Eriksson Ek and Boldy. He has since moved to the Hartman line, and linemates have rotated, so he could move again.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement on his current slot. The open question is whether he stays on the Hartman and Brink line or gets moved up next to Eriksson Ek and Boldy again. He skated there in the Sept. 25 preseason game and in the preseason projection. 5v5 Hockey's Oct. 13 snapshot had Shabanov on his right side, while later reports have Brink. I found no analyst arguing either side.
