Kirill Kaprizov

Consensus #7 · LW2 · tier 2Week 5: 3 gamesUpdated Nov 2

Kaprizov is the Wild's top left winger and top-unit power-play piece, and the only open question is the day-to-day wire note, for which I found no current detail.

Role

Projections for the Nov. 1 game at Washington (Inside the Rink, Morning Puck and 5v5 Hockey, from search snippets that I did not open) have him on line 1 with center Joel Eriksson Ek and right wing Matt Boldy. Inside the Rink and 5v5 Hockey list him on the first power-play unit with Eriksson Ek, Boldy, Maxim Shabanov and Quinn Hughes. Beat reports (Michael Russo of The Athletic, via Minnesota Sports Fan) say coach John Hynes moved him onto this line after an early-season all-Russian line with Danila Yurov and Shabanov lasted about 3.5 games. Second-line wing Blake Coleman and the second power-play unit are not in direct competition for his spot, and I found no source naming a replacement. I could not confirm a current ice-time figure. ESPN's game log, as indexed in the snippet, shows 18:49 to 24:58 per game in his first seven games of October. I did not open any live line-combination page.

The case for

Kaprizov and Boldy both told Russo they like playing together, and Hynes has kept the trio together since the switch. He is on the first power-play unit with Hughes, a high-end power-play defenseman. A snippet from 5v5 Hockey's team page shows him leading the Wild in scoring.

The case against

The wire still lists him day-to-day, and I found nothing dated after it, such as a practice report or a coach's update. The only injury coverage I found was from last season, so I cannot say what the current issue is, whether he missed games or when he returns. The line is also a recent fix for a top group that was struggling, and Hynes moved Kaprizov off the Yurov-Shabanov line after a few games. Last season he played 16 games, which is the context for any durability worry.

Where analysts split

broad agreement on the role: the sources I found all place him with Eriksson Ek and Boldy on the top line and top power-play unit. The one open question is health, because I could not find current reporting on the day-to-day designation.

Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
