Brandon Hagel
Hagel is a second-line left wing who also gets first-unit power-play time, and the only open question is the day-to-day note, which I could not clarify.
Role
Projected lineups for the Oct. 31 game at Nashville (NHL.com preview and Inside the Rink) have Hagel on line 2 with Anthony Cirelli at center and Pontus Holmberg on the right. Line 1 is Guentzel-Point-Kucherov. Both previews list Hagel on the first power-play unit with Guentzel, Point, Kucherov and Charle-Edouard D'Astous. Inside the Rink also has him on the first penalty-kill unit with Cirelli, Ryan McDonagh and Erik Cernak. The Morning Puck page (indexed 9 days ago) shows the same Hagel-Cirelli-Holmberg trio. These are projected lineups, not confirmed ones. I did not fetch Daily Faceoff's page, so I am not reporting what it says. Our data has him at 279 minutes of ice time over 13 games last season. I did not find his current ice-time average. The day-to-day note is the wire report, and I found no practice report or coach update after it.
He skates on a second line next to a two-way center and also plays on the first power-play unit alongside Kucherov, Point and Guentzel. Last season he had 16 points in 13 games, 8 goals and 58 shots, and 3 of those points came on the power play. He also adds penalty-kill time and a steady shot volume.
His 5-on-5 minutes come on a checking-oriented second line with Holmberg on the right wing. Against Nashville on Oct. 31, that line was outshot 7 to 4 and was on the ice for 2 goals against, per a Frozen Pool page whose index date is unclear. His power-play role depends on the first unit staying as listed. The day-to-day note adds some risk to his availability. I did not find what the injury is or how long it will last.
Where analysts split
Broad agreement on his role. I found no analyst split in the coverage. The one open question is the day-to-day note, and no source I found says whether it will cost him games.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
